Roger's role as 'SANTA CLAUS'!

I vividly recall the day I asked Roger to be Santa Claus for the Penang Eurasian Association’s Childrens’ Christmas Party on 12 December 1998. His immediate answer was NO!

However with a little persuasion and the solemn promise to buy him a new and “authentic” Santa outfit, Roger agreed and reminded me that this would be a ‘one off’ favour. …

Taking on the role of Santa has magically transformed Roger from a quiet, unassuming person to a wonderful, caring, lovable, enthusiastic and committed individual. A man of incredible talents, Roger has touched the lives of so many people, in a role which comes naturally to him. In retrospect, I believe that it was the best decision that he has made in his lifetime!

I have never seen or met anyone who is SO passionate about being Santa Claus, that I am always moved to tears when seeing the lovely children come up to him, sit on his lap, and whisper sweet nothings in his ears … Roger patiently speaks to every single one of them, calls out their names and hands them their treasured gifts at all our parties. He takes his responsibility very, very, seriously indeed! From his Outfit, Boots, Belt and his ivory Beard, Roger has sourced neighbouring Countries on the Internet to obtain that little bit more authenticity at his own expense, just so that he well and truly “Looks the Part”.

What really amazes me is that Roger is filled with boundless energy and enthusiasm in agreeing wholeheartedly to be Santa at a variety of Functions, some of which have no monetary gain for him.

Truly I am delighted to be associated with such a great person, a warm-hearted, kind and loving father, husband, son and friend to so many people nationwide.  I am honoured to have had several opportunities to enjoy his role as Santa and I can honestly say that he possesses great professionalism in carrying that role well.

I sincerely hope that in the years to come, Santa Roger will continue to bring Christmas joy and cheer into the lives of everyone whom he comes into contact with! I wish him everything his heart desires.

For people like me who still believe in Santa Claus, I want to thank Santa Roger for helping to keep the Magic of Christmas alive!
